HER LOST WORK RECOVERED, RESTORED AND ENTIRELY INVENTED
Undoubtedly one of the most talked about shows on the improvised comedy circuit, Austentatious: An Improvised Novelis an hour long comedy play spun in the inimitable style of Jane Austen – and based entirely on audience suggestions. A seasoned cast including fast-rising comics Cariad Lloyd & Rachel Parris, present an eloquent, irreverent, 100% improvised take on the works of Britain’s best-loved novelist. Performed in period costume with live ‘cello accompaniment, Austentatious is an immersive and hilarious treat for fans of Austen and improvised comedy alike.
The show has been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, Royal Festival Hall, The Old Vic Tunnels, Sitcom Mission and venues around the West End. Rather than offering the familiar roster of impro games and scenes, Austentatious present an ambitious story with all the trappings of Austen’s best work: rounded characters, delicate plotting, and real drama. Previous titles suggested by the audience have included: ‘Pride and Sandwiches’; ‘Man Filled Park’; ‘The Cat Who Made A Fine Match’; and the unlikely supernatural thriller ‘@Jane Austen: #Zombies’.
